Abstract:		 Excavation of four test pits along the line of a drainage trench that was excavated through a scheduled moated site and medieval fishpond without having obtained scheduled monument consent. The test pits reopened the drainage trench and attempted to characterise the moat and fishpond deposits, and gain an understanding of the depth of the truncation. The effect on the monument's significance was considered. Three palaeoenvironmental samples were assessed which demonstrated that no significant waterlogged remains were affected by the unauthorised works. A topographical survey was also undertaken.
