Abstract:
Headland Archaeology Ltd conducted a trial-trench archaeological evaluation on land on Hill Farm, Baylham, Suff olk, as part of a programme of archaeological evaluative works carried out in support of a planning application for re-development of the site. This followed a geophysical survey of the site, which noted the presence of a number of positive linear anomalies. Trial trenching revealed evidence for possible prehistoric (late Bronze Age) agricultural activity in the vicinity of two trenches; probable Roman field systems in the eastern part of the DA; and the remains of post-medieval / modern field systems and drainage ditches in the western part of the DA.
