Abstract: |
OA East undertook a metal detector survey and archaeological evaluation on land north of Mildenhall Road, Freckenham, Suffolk. The metal detecting survey covered a representative sample of the 3.5 hectares prior to excavation. Three objects were recovered, including a copper alloy vessel fragment dating to the 15th-16th Century. The evaluation comprised of 20 trenches over an area of 3.5 hectares, 17 trenches were 50m in length and 3 trenches were 25m in length.. Many of the trenches contained deep naturally occurring hollows, some of which had dark fills, however no archaeology was observed. |
