Abstract: |
archaeological field evaluation by trial trenching was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) on land at the Rose and Crown public house, Main Street, Tilton on the Hill (SK 7431 0563). The work was in advance of the proposed redevelopment of the site for new housing and follows on from an earlier evaluation on the site, which located a number of undated archaeological features. The single trench was placed on part of the garden of the pub and was found to be negative for archaeological features, apart from a modern pit close to the northern end of the trench containing part of a sewer pipe and plastic. The archive for this work will be deposited with Leicestershire Museums with accession number X.A96.2014. |
