Abstract: |
Following the results of a trench evaluation, targeted excavations were carried out on land at Compton House, Compton, Winchester. The archaeological excavation recorded significant archaeological remains, which comprised two north - south aligned probable Roman ditches, along with a possibly contemporaneous pit with associated postholes. Artefacts recovered from the site included a small amount of highly abraded Iron Age and Roman pottery, residual Mesolithic and later Prehistoric struck flints and a small amount of animal bone. |
