Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief took place at Waddell Street, Glasgow, on the south bank of the Clyde. The works included the monitoring of the excavation of a coffer dam, as part of the construction of a combined sewer overflow headwall. The full depth of the excavation of the coffer dam was monitored, which ranged from between 6.5m and 6.8m deep. No significant archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were uncovered during the monitoring of these excavations; natural subsoil was not reached. The full depth of 6.5m to 6.8m exposed only evidence of relatively modern disturbance, ranging in date from 20th century till present. The possibility of significant archaeological features, deposits and artefacts in the area remains. Thomas Rees 2015. |
