Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 3 hectares of grassland at Centenary Way, Cheddar. A number of probable archaeological features have been identified mostly in the west of the site. A It is possible that these relate to Roman activity which has been recorded extensively in the local area. Several weaker positive features give the appearance of former field boundaries however none appear on available historic mapping. A network of modern land drains exist on the site, along with some small areas of made ground, magnetic disturbance caused by nearby metallic objects and agricultural marks. A small number of metallic spikes caused by ferrous debris are scattered over the survey area. |
