Abstract:
An evaluation was undertaken at land at 45-47 St Catherines, Lincoln on the site of two demolished Victorian Houses prior to a residential development. The evaluation concluded that the entire footing of the proposed development would require excavation to preserve by record the archaeology that would otherwise be at risk. Evidence relating to intermittent human settlement of the area between the prehistroic and the early modern perids were yielded. The principle discoveries related to multiple phases of construction and burial associated with the origins and development of the Gilbertine Priory, St Katherine's.
