Abstract:
This project relates to an earthwork survey in advance of the construction by the Ministry of Defence of a new electronic target range at Bellerby Moor which is located near to Leyburn in North Yorkshire. 36 archaeological and geological features were identified and the report supports the further investigation and protection of those features directly affected by the proposed construction. The features identified include banks, cairns, mine shafts, burnt mounds, trackways together with a standing stone, a hengiform barrow monument and a tufa spring mound.
