Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation consisting of four trenches, each 10m x 2m, was undertaken in the town centre of Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. The evaluation was part of a wider scheme of archaeological mitigation associated with an environmental improvement scheme, the centrepiece of which is to be the construction of a new road through a former residential and light industrial area. Archaeological investigations focussed on a car park built on the site of the former Manor Farm, at the eastern end of the new road, and land to the north of the extant Croft Mill, at the western end of the new road. Out of the four trenches, two were archaeologically negative, whilst the other two contained a number of probable post-medieval structural remains. |
