Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during groundworks associated with the construction of a single dwelling and garage. The site is situated approximately 140m to the north west of three probable Bronze Age bowl barrows and a further two barrows lie to the southwest of these. A further three barrows lie 350m to the northeast of the site. Worked flint scatters have also been recorded to the west. Topsoil removal exposed natural subsoil throughout. With the exception of plough scarring, no features or deposits were present and no pre-modern finds were recovered. The structure of a roadside hedgebank was recorded. |
