Abstract: |
A geophysical survey by magnetometry was undertaken by Allen Archaeology Limited on behalf of De Pol Associates prior to the determination of a planning application for a mixed use development. The site is located approximately 10.6km west-northwest of central Telford and 0.9km northeast of the village of Walcot and is centred on NGR SJ 60599 12635. Map regression has shown that there has been a footpath running through the site aligned north-south since the 1800s. The linear anomaly identified in the data most likely relates to this. There are a number of dipolar spikes scattered throughout the surveyed area and areas of magnetic noise around the edges which are likely to be the result of the adjoining road and railway line. |
