Abstract:		 ARCHAS Cultural Heritage Ltd were contracted by Lundin Homes Ltd to undertake an archaeological evaluation in advance of a proposed housing development to the east of Durham Wynd and north of Selkirk Place on the north east of Lower Largo in Fife. The evaluation followed the placement of a planning condition upon the proposed development by Fife Council and Fife Council Archaeology Unit. The condition required that 7% of the proposed development area be systematically assessed for archaeological remains in advance of the proposed development. The archaeological evaluation involved the mechanical excavation of 33 evaluation trenches across the footprint of the proposed development. Excavation of the trenches revealed a small number of negatively cut features of indeterminate date, a small assemblage of ex situ ceramic sherds and two enigmatic stone filled features. ARCHAS recommend monitoring mitigation in the form of an archaeological watching brief during ground breaking works in the north eastern corner of the proposed development site. R Cameron 2015
