Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at West Midland Safari Park, Bewdley, Worcestershire (NGR SO 80093 75886). It was undertaken on behalf of RPS Planning and Development for their client West Midland Safari Park Limited. The Client is seeking planning consent from Wyre Forest Hills District Council for development of land known as Bunker's Hill. The proposed development comprises a hotel, conference centre, spa and water park along with associated access, landscaping, car parking and ancillary infrastructure. Only occasional small and discrete archaeological features were encountered that remain undated. These are considered to be post-medieval in date and related to agricultural activities or the clearance of heathland prior to the construction of parkland surrounding Spring Grove House in the late 18th century. |
