Abstract: |
A building recording project was undertaken on behalf of Gilkes Homes Ltd at Tanwood House, Chaddesley Corbett, Worcestershire (NGR SO 9060 7460; SMR ref WSM 32873). The project recorded a set of farm buildings adjacent to Tanwood House. These originally formed part of Tanwood House Farm and consisted of barns dating from the middle of the 18th century through to the late 19th century. The barns were probably not the original structures on the site but were a replacement for earlier 18th century buildings. The function of all of the barns is easily recognisable due to the designs of the buildings and fixtures that are still in place. The set of barns reflects the development of a farmstead through the agricultural revolution that turned farming into a profit making business. |
