Abstract:
AB Heritage Limited was commissioned to undertake a Historic Building Evaluation at Byes Farm, Hemyock, Mid Devon during July / August 2015. While not statutorily listed or designated, the Historic England National Farmstead Character Statement (2014) has identified that a farmstead or farm buildings are considered to be significant if they make a positive contribution to the local character of the area. As Byes Farm is a typical Mid Devon farmstead that forms a part of the historic agricultural landscape in which it is situated, and considered to contribute positively towards the character the landscape in which is it situated, it would therefore be considered to have a local level of significance.
