Abstract: |
Central Bedfordshire Council received a planning application for the erection of an oak-framed timber triple garage and log store to the rear of Chigwell House (2 Horslow Street), a Grade II listed building. The trial trench excavation revealed a small number of features all dated to the modern period. Two pits and a large area of rooting produced only modern material. The depth and preservation of the undisturbed natural deposits suggest the garden itself has not been extensively landscaped. There is potential for the survival of archaeological remains. However, the features uncovered were of no archaeological significance. |
