Abstract: |
Liss Archaeological Group were asked by The Saxons in the Meon Valley Saxons Project to carry out a geophysical survey using both magnetometry and resistivity at Colchenna, East Meon, Hampshire. The survey was carried out in a field where a quantity of later Anglo-Saxon artefacts had been retrieved by metal detectorists. The purpose of the survey was to try to identify the extent and character of any underlying archaeological features. A number of anomalies were identified, the most significant are possible pits and a possible trackway. A metal detecting survey was conducted at the same time and produced a range finds dating from the Roman to Modern times. |
