Abstract: |
AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Springfield Properties PLC to undertake a programme of archaeological works at Maxholm Road, Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. The area evaluated comprised former agricultural land to the W of Maxholm Road. Thirty linear trenches totalling 3130 m2 were excavated throughout the evaluation works. Drainage in the form of a few rubble drains and frequent ceramic tile drains were encountered that relate to post-improvement agricultural activity. Indications of some possible furrows were also noted. No significant archaeological features or artefacts were encountered throughout the evaluation. |
