Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological works was carried out as part of the Borders Railway Project. The work was undertaken on Sites 13, 14 and 613. They are Longthorn Colliery (Sites 13 and 613) (NMRS No NT36NW 63 SMR No MEL 8407) and a building identified from early mapping (Site 14). The sites were spread over the North and South sides of Millerhill Road. Forty-eight trial trenches were excavated which covered 2660m2 or 6% of the evaluation area. No features of archaeological significance were identified. |
