Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by CFA Archaeology Ltd on land off Royds Lane, Rothwell, West Yorkshire during October 2012. Ten trenches were excavated with the heavily truncated remains of two, probable post-medieval or modern gullies and an undated pit or tree bole. The evaluation confirmed the site had been open cast mined in the mid 20th century, and that as a consequence no archaeological features were present central-southern part of the site. There were no finds recovered from any of the features excavated.
