Abstract: |
In November 2016 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation at The Sun Inn, 101 High Street, Markyate, Hertfordshire. The evaluation was undertaken in compliance with a condition attached to planning permission for the construction of three dwellings to the rear with carport, parking and driveway.The Sun Inn, built in the 16th century, lies on the eastern side of the High Street (Roman Watling Street) in the historic core of Markyate The evaluation revealed a post-medieval (17th-18th century) pit which contained residual medieval (13th-15th century) pottery sherds. |
