Abstract: |
A watching brief on a water main renewal at Wing, Rutland, was undertaken by ARCUS on behalf of Severn Trent Water, This was required as a condition of planning consent as the pipeline crossed fields containing medieval ridge and furrow earthworks close to the historic settlement core of Wing, in addition a probable prehistoric site lies near the northwest end of the pipeline route. The scope of works consisted of archaeological monitoring of 7 trial pitsto asess the condition of the ground and existing pipe. The targeted areas were within the original construction cut for the water main. No archaeological remains were identified in any of the trial pits. |
