Abstract: |
A programme of works comprising archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken during the groundworks pertaining to the construction of three new two storey residential dwellings at 3, Naam Place, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. The groundworks for this development consisting of the mechanical reduction of the foundation trenches for the new build were undertaken under continual archaeological supervision. This programme of archaeological monitoring and recording did not identify any archaeological activity on this site and there were no finds. The findings consisted of a series of deposits sequences which consisted of an undated buried soil or ploughsoil horizon, a made ground deposit which was associated with a former demolished outbuilding on the site, a redeposited modern topsoil and an underlying natural horizon of cornbrash. These various deposit sequences were recorded within a total of eight representative sections across the monitored area. |
