Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 7.2 hectares of grassland pasture. An area of former settlement has been identified, and is likely to be of prehistoric or Roman date. Former backfilled pits and circular features are likely to be related to the settlement activity. Evidence of ridge and furrow cultivation suggests a later agricultural history on the site. Two small linear features are of possible archaeological or natural origin. The remaining features are natural or modern in origin and include large areas of natural variation, evidence of modern ploughing, magnetic disturbance from nearby fences and magnetic spikes that are likely to be modern rubbish. |
