Abstract: |
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 8 hectares of arable farmland. A rectilinear enclosure is the only feature of probable archaeological origin that has been identified on the site. Ridge and furrow, a former field boundary and evidence of modern ploughing indicate that the site has an agricultural past. A number of discrete positive anomalies are seen in the southern area which may be backfilled pits of archaeological origin; while a further linear anomaly may be archaeological or related to agricultural activity. The remaining features are natural or modern and include underground services, magnetic disturbance from nearby ferrous objects and magnetic spikes that are likely to be modern rubbish. |
