Abstract: |
In September 2016 Archaeological Research Services Ltd was commissioned by Construction Marine Ltd on behalf of Network Rail to undertake an archaeological strip, map and sample at Farnley Haugh, Corbridge, Northumberland. The archaeological works were carried out as part of emergency stabilisation works caused by a landslip on land north-west of West Lodge, Corbridge. Subsequent to the initial phase of work, in September 2016 an area measuring 1059m2 was excavated along the edge of the previously excavated landslip area. Also carried out in September 2016 was the excavation of a single drainage trench which was monitored as part of an archaeological watching brief. |
