Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at The Stables, Manse Road, Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire on behalf of Mr and Mrs Mulvaney in relation to the proposed development of a site currently used as grazing. A total of seven evaluation trenches, one of which was extended due to the presence of isolated archaeological remains, were excavated which equated to approximately 10% of the proposed development area. Two large oval shaped pits of unknown date, one of which contained two fragments of slag and possible stone tool, were discovered towards the southern end of the proposed development area. Despite the pits being of unknown date they are considered to be of low archaeological significance.
