Abstract: |
A scheme of archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out during the groundworks associated with the erection of a single-storey rear conservatory and one-and-a-half storey extension on north elevation at 65 Nettleham Road, Lincoln. This specification is subject to the approval of the Planning Archaeologist for the City of Lincoln Council. The site is within an area of importance to the early settlement and development of Lincoln. The Roman aqueduct is known to have run parallel to the Roman Fosse Way, now Nettleham Road, for some of its course. The proposed development had high archaeological potential to uncover material associated with either one or both of these Roman infrastructures. |
