Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey was carried out on 7-9 January 2013 on behalf of Scottish Woodlands and Glenfeshie Estate Ltd in advance of a new woodland planting scheme at Killiehuntly near Kingussie in Badenoch and Strathspey. The work was undertaken to assess the nature and extent of any archaeology likely to be affected within the area outlined for the proposed planting scheme in order to inform recommendations for the protection and management of any sites identified. The survey recorded two previously unsurveyed groups of shooting butts and one extensive settlement in Gleann Chomhraig. The desk-based assessment revealed that sections of the area had been covered by walkover surveys during the past 14 years; a small farmstead and two groups of shooting butts had been previously recorded within the survey area. |
