Abstract: |
The evaluation works comprised the excavation of four trenches with Romano-British ditches and gullies identified in the two eastern most trenches. The revealed features were indicative of agricultural activity, with no features associated with structural remains. It seems likely that the Romano-British features identified may represent the western limit of the field system associated with the Romano-British Scheduled Monument to the east. A very small quantity of finds were recovered, which comprised six sherds of Romano-British pottery and four unstratified fragments of probable roof tile. Post-medieval furrows were noted across the Site as well as a series of pits and tree throws of uncertain date. |
