Abstract: |
Five trial trenches were excavated within the footprint for the proposed poultry buildings, three of which were positioned to investigate a possible rectilinear feature identified during the 2008 geophysical survey. Groundworks revealed a shallow drainage ditch running NNW-SSE within two of the trenches. A fragment of handmade ceramic land drain and a single sherd of C 19th pot were recovered from this feature. Two shallow drains were excavated to the W of this feature. Late post medieval pottery was recovered from one of these features suggesting that they were late post medieval or modern in date. |
