Abstract: |
A Level 1 standing building survey was carried out on 9 April 2018. Three main phases of development of the farm were recorded (Illus 15). In Phase 1 which probably dates to the early 19th-century a C-shaped steading was constructed around a central courtyard which was enclosed over the following two phases. Doors and windows were blocked as the use of the building changed from a mill in Room 2 to full agricultural use. Room 4 is the only one without a concrete floor and this room retains the waterwashed cobble surface which would have originally floored all the areas in use for housing animals. |
