Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief and desk-based assessment were required by Scottish Water in respect to the installation of a generator and upgrade of the existing access on land south east of Ocean View, Nerabus, Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay. The watching brief was carried out on over c. 200m of the access track and the site compound. The topsoil to be removed was very shallow and in most of the trench was directly on top of a compact medium grey brown silty clay or bedrock. A small selection of 19th to 20th century ceramics was noted in the topsoil but no other archaeological features were found. |
