Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group prior to a proposed residential development on land adjacent to Springhill Road, Barrhead, East Renfrewshire (NGR: NS 50060 57755). The evaluation consisted of 2,450 linear metres of trenching equating to an 8% sample of the land available for investigation within the 10ha of the proposed development. An improved, clay plough-soil covered the site. The plough-soil directly overlay a plough scarred natural of orange boulder clay. No significant archaeological material was observed. Numerous fragments of 19th/20th century white and patterned ceramics were observed in the top-soil. |
