Abstract: |
GUARD Archaeology Limited were commissioned to undertake an archaeological watching brief during all ground-breaking works associated with the construction of a new water pipeline extending from the Water Treatment Works at Stevenston, Kilwinning, south-eastwards to the Water Treatment Works at Harperland, Dundonald. The work programme revealed no significant archaeological features along the pipeline route, except spreads of modern industrial waste relating to historic mine working and the fragmentary remains of Drummuir Cottage. Late Medieval/post Medieval pottery sherds were also recovered from the surface of the subsoil at several locations along the pipeline route. |
