Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at Land off Chequers Land, Wychbold, Worcestershire (NGR SO 9257 6566). It was commissioned by CgMs Consulting, on behalf of their client who intends to develop the site for which a planning application is in preparation. A number of archaeological sites have been recorded from the wider vicinity of the proposed development site, including evidence of an Iron Age and/or Roman settlement to the west of the proposed site. Six trenches were excavated across the proposed development site. A small ditch was exposed orientated north-west to south-east within three trenches in the western part of the site. This feature is depicted on Ordnance Survey maps as the boundary of a small rectangular patch of woodland until the mid-20th century. No evidence of any other archaeological activity was identified during the evaluation. |
