A geophysical survey undertaken as part of an archaeological field evaluation of a solar power development site at Halwell, Devon. The purpose of the survey was to test for evidence of archaeological features or remains at the site, and supply information relevant to the planning process

Geophysical survey undertaken as part of an archaeological evaluation of land at the proposed Barby Pools Marina site in Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. This was prepared by Cotswold Archaeology (Project 3174, 18 March 2011). The site has also been the subject of detailed Cultural Heritage Assessment by Cotswold Archaeology (Report 11010; January 2011). The survey has responded to much of the visible ridge and furrow, but has also detected an extensive and previously unknown complex of mainly rectilinear ditched enclosures. A number of the enclosures contain internal features suggesting this is a settlement site, perhaps of largely Roman date.

This geophysical survey was undertaken as part of an archaeological field evaluation of a proposed development site known as Birchall Garden Suburb to the east of Welwyn. The survey coverage excluded areas which have previously been quarried and reclaimed. Conditions at the site on the evidence of magnetic susceptibility readings, and previous nearby geophysical results, appear (although not strongly responsive), to be reasonably favourable for the magnetic detection of archaeological features, but only limited findings were obtained. These include possible traces of cropmark ditches or enclosures, and a possible (weakly defined) circular earthwork feature.

This geophysical survey was carried out to test for evidence of archaeological features or remains in the vicinity of a proposed new road which is to provide access to the Branton Lane Quarry at Aldridge near Walsall. The survey has not detected any concentrations of findings which would suggest the presence of settlement or occupation remains within or associated with the cropmark enclosure. The weak (but identifiable) response to the cropmark enclosure could mean that the earthworks have been eroded since the aerial photograph was taken.

This geophysical survey was undertaken as part of an archaeological evaluation of the site of a proposed extension to the existing Cadeby Quarry. The survey has detected various subsurface features and disturbances including land drains and cultivation effects, but only a small number of findings of potential archaeological relevance. These include a previously unknown but probable large ring ditch, and magnetic anomalies which could indicate the presence of settlement remains within an area of previously recorded earthworks at the south-west of the site.

This geophysical survey is to form part of an archaeological evaluation of a field which is the proposed site of a solar array to be constructed near Chediston in east Suffolk. The survey has produced results which are consistent with the known history and character of the site, but there are no findings which can be claimed to be of unambiguous archaeological significance. The purpose of this geophysical survey was to test for evidence of archaeological findings or remains at the site of a proposed solar power development near Tackley, Oxfordshire. The survey has detected dense concentrations of archaeological features in two areas towards the NE and SW of the field. These clearly represent groups of ditched enclosures, some of which contain pits and other features indicating settlement remains.

This report describes a geophysical survey which has been undertaken as part of an archaeological evaluation of the site of a proposed extension to a quarry at east Bilney, Norfolk. The site is located on arable land adjacent to the B1146 Fakenham Road about 1km SE of East Bilney village, and 7km north of Dereham. The survey has detected magnetic disturbances which may derive from a number of superimposed sources, some of which appear to be of archaeological relevance. One or more ditched enclosures, and a group of magnetic disturbances of a kind which appears to indicate an ancient settlement site towards the north of the survey area have been discovered. Also present are a number of linear features possibly relating to former field systems and modern cultivation.

This report describes a geophysical survey undertaken as part of an archaeological field evaluation of a proposed development site at Easton near Norwich. The site was surveyed in full with the exception of a few localised obstructions. Ground conditions at the site appear to be favourable for the detection of archaeological features by means of a magnetometer survey, but no clearly defined or unambiguous archaeological findings were observed. The survey has detected a number of recent or non-archaeological ground disturbances, but the only findings of potential archaeological relevance are weak and isolated magnetic anomalies which could perhaps indicate eroded traces of ditches or enclosures at two locations.

Geophysical survey carried out as part of an archaeological evaluation of a proposed gravel extraction site adjacent to the existing Fairlop Quarry at Aldborough Hatch in the London Borough of Redbridge. The survey has detected a limited number of subsurface features and disturbances, some of which relate to previously identified cropmarks, but not all of which are likely to be of archaeological interest.
