This 17th- to 18th-century Grade II Listed farmhouse has been overhauled and updated in the 18th and 19th centuries, although it retains elements of some early interiors. It has lost one range totally and parts of the main range are redundant as farm buildings. It stands upon an historic plot and earlier remains may survive buried around and beneath it.

Level 2 Building recording on farm buildings

Chartlands, also called The Farmhouse, is a Grade II Listed building which originates before 1813, but has been much-altered, inside and out. Areas currently proposed for fresh, minor alterations are not largely significant to the historic assets of the property and if implemented, would arguably not prevent the ongoing understanding and 'reading' of the building or adversely affect its setting.

Grange Farmhouse, Geddington Grange was built between 1811 and 1817 on extensive and reliable map evidence. Externally there have been few alterations since at least 1900, although the interiors of its two service wings have been re-ordered on its ground and first floors. Three basic phases are discernible: 1811-17, pre-1886 (external) and 20th century (mainly internal).

Heritage asset Survey of farm buildings for conversion

Recording shows that this small Grade II Listed cottage of c1700 was much altered and enlarged when it became the village bakery between 1850 and 1864 a function it fulfilled c1903. Evidence survives for its structural alteration (set out below), but it lacks any all but a very few architectural details of note. It is dominated by its extraordinary baker's oven which gives the present cottage its character.

Harlestone Stable block is an early 19th-century Grade II* listed building by Humphrey and John Adey Repton, formerly associated with Harlestone House which was demolished in 1940. The current owner of the stables wishes to construct an outbuilding in scrubland to the west, which was formerly part of the kitchen gardens to Harlestone House. The stables lie adjacent to the club-house and car-park of Northampton Golf Club. The associated golf-course surrounds the stables on three sides. The modern club-house lies approximately where Harlestone House formerly stood. The site is largely screened from public view by high brick boundary walls. It is considered that there will be a negligible/very minor impact to the setting of the stables. It is considered that while there is a moderate potential for below-ground archaeology that could potentially date from the prehistoric to post-medieval periods, the later post-medieval and modern uses of the site as kitchen gardens are likely to have limited survival of all but the most deeply buried archaeological deposits.

Research and Level 2 Building Recording reveals Spring Hill farm to be a Loose Courtyard plan farm of the period c1750-1880. Most of its surviving buildings served a mixed arable and pastoral regime, with a more recent focus on pig rearing. The buildings retain little detail.

A programme of attendance to observe groundworks for the laying out of new isolated agricultural buildings did not uncover any archaeological deposits or features and was curtailed as its potential diminished.
