The Nottinghamshire Aggregates Resource Assessment was undertaken with the aim of characterising the archaeological resource of those areas of Nottinghamshire that are potentially available for aggregates extraction and assisting management of this resource in relation to future extraction. It was conducted by staff of Nottinghamshire County Council and Trent & Peak Archaeology (now York Archaeology) between 2009-2014 with funding from the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, distributed by English Heritage on behalf of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). It forms part of a package of archaeological resource assessments of mineral-producing areas in England, available via the ADS Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund page. The project generated a published guidance document supported by an archive report and a Geographic Information System (GIS) archived in the Nottinghamshire County Council Historic Environment Record (HER).

Copies of the full archive report and published guidance document may be viewed and downloaded from this site, together with maps showing the distributions of historic environment assets recorded in the Nottinghamshire HER. The GIS underpinning this project is held by Nottinghamshire County Council and may be consulted by application to the County HER Team.
