This collection comprises images from a historic building recording of stables at Dixton Manor undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in June 2020.
Cotswold Archaeology was commissioned to conduct a Level 2 Building Recording of the Stables at Dixton Manor, Gotherington. The permitted scheme involves the demolition of the building and its replacement with a larger building and this work is required by the Gloucestershire planning authority to preserve the building by record.
The building is a mid-19th century one storey vernacular stone and brick functional estate building, currently, and possibly historically, used as a stable for ponies combined with storage. It has been extended and altered over time, though the extensions as seen on cartography have since been removed. The recording has described the building's exterior and interior arrangement and fabric, and provided photography of elevations and features with an associated plan of the photographic locations. The recording has also provided some commentary and discussion on the building's former use/s, its development over time and its relationship to the manor and the associated ancillary complex.
