This collection comprises an earthwork survey and report; site photographs; and GIS data from a LiDAR survey project carried out between December 2020 and January 2021 in advance of development.
The project involved the assessment and analysis of aerial LiDAR data in the area of Ashbourne Road, Kirk Langley, Derbyshire. The results of this recorded the survival of ridge and furrow earthwork features within the proposed development area and in adjacent fields. Further earthwork features were also noted within both areas, which were identified as possible quarrying pits and modern footpaths.
A site visit was later conducted to validate the results of the study and to record ground heights with survey grade GPS to support the aerial LiDAR date. Whilst the survival of features within the larger study area was confirmed and good agreement found with the LiDAR interpretations, initial development had partially destroyed the surviving ridge and furrow in the south of the proposed area. Ground heights were found to be between 0.11 and 0.32m lower than the LiDAR heights.
A phased landscape development is suggested on the basis of LiDAR study and historic mapping.
