Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

This collection comprises site data from an archaeological photographic and photogrammetric survey of a St Margaret's Church and Churchyard (NHLE 1021265) located in Harwood Dale, North Yorkshire, YO13 0LA, centred on NGR 495200, 496573, undertaken by Wessex Archaeology and commissioned by the North York Moors National Park Authority as part of their Monuments for the Future project.

St Margaret's Church and churchyard sits within a walled enclosure approximately 150m south of Chapel Farm. The church was built in the early 17th century and is a gabled rectangular structure of random rubble construction and is currently unroofed and no longer in use. The structure has recently been added to the Heritage at Risk register because of its deteriorating condition due to weathering and natural erosion.

The surveys were required to provide a record prior to remedial work to the damaged structures in need of repair. The photographic survey comprises detailed elevations of the interior and exterior walls of the church and churchyard boundary walls. The photogrammetric survey targeted the Lych Gate as this part of the structure requires the most remedial work. The photographic survey was undertaken using a Canon EOS 5D MkIII camera and appropriate scales. The photogrammetric survey was undertaken using a Sony A7Rii camera and a FARO Focus S70 terrestrial laser scanner was used to establish survey control on a local grid. The resulting datasets will provide a lasting resource for future conservation and management of the monument.
