This collection comprises the Digital Archive (images, site plans and site records) from archaeological evaluation trenching by Archaeological Research Service on Land Adjacent to 28 Cottage Hill Gardens, Southampton prior to proposed development.

The proposed development consisted of 2 detached dwellings with associated parking and refuse storage. The evaluation involved the excavation of two trenches in the proposed development area and was undertaken on 14th December 2020, by Dimitrios Katsifas, Assistant Project Officer at Archaeological Research Services Ltd. The project was managed by Lawrence Pontin, Project Manager of Archaeological Research Services Ltd.

Several different levelling episodes were found on site. All were identified as associated with previous modern ground works containing elements of modern brick and concrete fragments. This material overlay or, in one instance, cut through natural gravel deposits No material or deposits of archaeological relevance were revealed by the evaluation.
