Introduction

Aerial Shot of Site
Aerial Shot of Site

This collection comprises site data (img, reports and CAD) from 2006 Trial Trenching Evaluation and 2007 Excavation of Old Hall and Generals Farm, Boreham, Essex.

An archaeological trial trench evaluation of 74 trenches across c.15 hectares took place in 2006 and subsequent full excavation, based on the results of a preceding desk-based assessment and archaeological trial-trenching evaluation, which had established that sites A and C contained significant prehistoric remains, and site B probable Roman and post-Roman settlement, in 2007.

The work was undertaken in advance of and during the construction of an agricultural reservoir and flood plain extension on land at Old Hall and Generals Farm, Boreham. The archaeological work was undertaken as a requirement of planning consent for the reservoir development.
