The Archaeology Unit of Southampton City Council carried out a watching brief in September to December 2016 on groundworks for the construction of an energy centre adjacent to Shirley Towers and Milner Court, Southampton.

The 19th century and 20th century developments of the site had caused considerable disturbance but four probably prehistoric features were observed. They had been dug into the natural brickearth, three of them contained burnt flints, and one contained a flint flake in addition.
