Introduction

Laser Scan Data from Exeter Cathedral, Exeter, Devon 2016

This collection comprises raw laser scan data, meshes, and models from scanning conducted at Exeter Cathedral. Exeter Cathedral is a largely thirteenth- and fourteenth-century building. The high vaults throughout, the vaults of the Lady Chapel, the pulpitum, the Chapel of St James and the remains of the vaults in the north walk of the cloister were scanned by Dr Nicholas Webb, Dr Alexandrina Buchanan, Dr Sarah Duffy, Dr James Hillson and JR Peterson as part of 'Tracing the Past', a research project examining the design and construction of medieval vaults.

The collection consists of data for Exeter Cathedral. Data available from the ADS for this site comprises:

  • Raw scan data in e57 format
  • Processed point cloud models in e57 format
  • Processed mesh models in OBJ format
  • Orthophotos of selected plans and sections through the sites in TIF format
  • Metadata for the above
