Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Introduction

This collection comprises of images, reports, spreadsheets and site records from a trial trench evaluation carried out by Connect Archaeology at Finmere, Oxfordshire between February and April 2020.

Project Summary

Trial Trench Evaluation at Finmere (1C19FNMT) encompassed 5 parcels of land: C250/67 -C250/70 and C250/84, within the Newton Purcell to Brackley Community Forum Area (CFA14) (centred on NGR 461876 233904), which lies 700m east of Mixbury and 800m west of Finmere, hereafter referred to as the Site. Fieldwork work carried out between the 19th of February 2020 and 23rd of April 2020. A total of 64 trenches were excavated and found to contained peripheral activity relating to the known Prehistoric site at Finmere Quarry, it also contained some sporadic examples of linear and pit features which did not conform to a cohesive archaeological landscape.

Re-Use Value Statement

The Finmere archive can be considered as part of the wider HS2 archive and as such has re-use value.

The site has value on its own as it investigates a Prehistoric site which may be worth further study. The evidence contributes to the corpus of such sites in Britain.
