This collection comprises reports, images, spreadsheets and site records from an archaeological trial trench evaluation undertaken by Connect Archaeology between 19th October and 6th November 2020 at Harp Inn, Ladbroke Cutting, Warwickshire.
This consisted of the evaluation of a single land parcel, where a total of 70 trenches were excavated. Archaeological features were present in 14 of the 70 trenches and consisted of enclosure and boundary ditches, pits and ploughing furrows. Pottery dating to the Iron Age was found in a number of features and this could represent an original phase of the settlement however the majority of pottery dated to the Romano British Period. It is possible that this site was continually occupied between these periods or two phases of occupation are represented here.
The archaeological features (boundary ditches, pits and furrows) and the artefactual evidence (pottery) uncovered and recorded in the digital archive were used to inform a further programme of Archaeological Recording (IC20HINAR) to fully characterise the potential settlement. The digital archive for Harp Inn may also prove valuable for any future developments in the area.
Please note that while the HS2 sitecode found in the records included in this collection is 1C20LADTT, the correct one is 1C21HINTT.
