This collection comprises images from archaeological strip, map and recording work on land west of Syke Road, Burnopfield, County Durham. This archaeological mitigation investigation work was undertaken by Vindomora Solutions Ltd in September 2021 on behalf of Akenside Development Company Ltd.

The project was undertaken to fulfil Conditions 11 and 12 of planning application DM/19/03125/FPA.

This strip, map and record project suggests the presence of outlying (or localised) Bronze Age activity on site, potentially heavily truncated by modern intrusion and landscaping. There was no direct evidence of Bronze Age settlement uncovered within the excavation area, with remains from this period simply being one feature holding two small pits, and a second feature holding a single pit.
